South Jordan's Expert Arborists

From Daybreak's young streets to the old cottonwoods along the Jordan River, we give South Jordan's trees the structural care that decides their next fifty years.

Why South Jordan

Thousands of young trees, one soil problem.

Serving South Jordan through our Salt Lake City crew, with the same expert arborists, the same standards, and the same around the clock availability.

South Jordan's canopy splits in two. Daybreak and the newer west side hold thousands of young planted trees, park strips and yards full of maples, honeylocusts, and ornamental pears entering the exact years when structural pruning matters most. The older east side along the Jordan River corridor carries mature cottonwoods and shade trees. Both halves grow in alkaline clay that locks up iron and turns maples yellow across the city.

Why an Expert Arborist Matters in South Jordan

South Jordan planted more trees in twenty years than most cities plant in a century, and nearly all of them are entering the window where trained pruning decides their future. A master planned canopy like Daybreak’s is thousands of same age trees with the same nursery habits: co-dominant stems, circling roots, narrow unions. Correct those now and the trees mature into an asset; ignore them and they become the removals of the 2040s. Meanwhile the alkaline clay under the whole city starves maples and aspens of iron, and the old cottonwoods along the Jordan River corridor need honest risk judgment, not a quick bid to cut.

Every estimate is conducted by an experienced arborist working to ANSI A300 industry standards. When a tree’s safety or an HOA approval is in question, we provide TRAQ qualified written assessments, and every job starts with a written plan and a current Certificate of Insurance in your hands before work begins.

South Jordan’s Tree Challenges

A master planned canopy hitting its training years is Daybreak’s defining tree issue. Thousands of maples, honeylocusts, and ornamental pears went into park strips and yards within a few years of each other, and they share the structural habits of nursery stock: co-dominant leaders, included bark, crossing limbs. Structural pruning between years five and twenty is cheap and permanent. Waiting turns the same defects into storm failures and removals.

Girdling roots in clay quietly strangle trees planted from containers, and South Jordan has whole streets of them. Roots that circled in the pot keep circling in heavy clay, tightening around the trunk until the tree declines for no visible reason around year fifteen. Root collar inspection catches it early, when excavation and selective root cutting can still save the tree.

Old cottonwoods on the river corridor are a different job entirely. The mature Fremont cottonwoods along the Jordan River Parkway side of the city are big, water loving, and prone to shedding massive limbs as they age. They deserve professional assessment, crown management where the tree is sound, and skilled rigging when removal is the right call.

South Jordan FAQ

Local questions, local answers.

Don't see your question? Call us. Every call is answered by a human arborist, day or night.

Do you serve South Jordan?
Yes. The Certified Arborist Tree Service of Salt Lake City works throughout South Jordan and the south valley. Call for a free on-site estimate.
How fast can an arborist get to my property?
Most estimate visits across the valley happen within 24 hours, and storm emergencies get a crew on site the same day. We answer the phone around the clock, not a call center.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in South Jordan?
On your own private property, generally no city permit is required. Park strip trees between the sidewalk and the street are city managed and need approval first. We confirm the rules for your exact address.
Which neighborhoods do you serve in South Jordan?
All of them, including Daybreak, Eastlake Village, The District, Stone Ridge, Riverfront, and the older streets along the Jordan River Parkway.
Why are my maple's leaves yellow with green veins?
That is iron chlorosis, and it is everywhere in South Jordan's alkaline clay. The soil holds plenty of iron, but the high pH keeps roots from absorbing it, so leaves go yellow while the veins stay green. Watering more does not help and often makes it worse. Targeted soil or trunk treatment restores color and vigor in most trees we see.
Are you insured for work in the valley?
Yes. Full general liability and workers' compensation on every crew member, and we can email a current Certificate of Insurance before work begins.
