Green ash lines a lot of Springville’s older residential blocks, and emerald ash borer is spreading through Utah County in exactly the kind of mature tree those streets are full of. Left unchecked, an infestation in an established ash moves faster than the same pest would in a young one, because there is more compromised tissue for it to work through. Canyon driven wind is the other standing risk.
