Why an Expert Arborist Matters in Bountiful

Bountiful runs up the Wasatch foothills more steeply than most of its Davis County neighbors, and that elevation change matters. Homes higher on the bench catch downslope canyon wind more directly, while the alkaline clay lower in town still locks up iron the way it does across the rest of the valley floor. Intense sun and wide swings between day and night temperatures add stress on top of that.

The training and experience of the arborist on site is what tells the difference between a tree stressed by wind exposure and one struggling with soil chemistry, since the fix for each is completely different. We produce written tree risk assessments using TRAQ methodology, accepted by HOAs, insurance carriers, and legal counsel, and carry full general liability and workers’ compensation insurance on every crew that works in Bountiful.

Bountiful’s Tree Challenges

Bountiful’s higher elevation neighborhoods see canyon wind failure in dense conifers, particularly Colorado blue spruce planted close to a home for a windbreak that becomes a liability once its root plate loosens. Lower in town, honeylocust and Norway maple show iron chlorosis on the same alkaline clay found across Davis County.

Green ash and other older street trees warrant a proactive look for emerald ash borer, now established in Utah. Heavy wet snow after a late spring storm and occasional late frost round out the seasonal risk calendar here, both of which hit trees that were not pruned with the load in mind. An expert arborist reads the cause behind each of these before recommending a cut.

Bountiful FAQ

Local questions, local answers.

Don't see your question? Call us. Every call is answered by a human arborist, day or night.

Do you serve Bountiful, UT?
Yes. The Certified Arborist Tree Service works throughout Bountiful and the surrounding area. Call for a free on-site estimate.
How fast can an arborist get to my property?
Most estimate visits happen within 24 hours, and storm emergencies get a crew on site the same day. We answer the phone around the clock, not a call center.
Why do Bountiful's hillside homes see more wind damage?
Bountiful climbs right up against the Wasatch foothills, and homes higher on that slope catch downslope canyon wind directly. Dense conifers like spruce are the trees most at risk there.
What is causing the yellow leaves on my maple?
Almost certainly iron chlorosis. Bountiful's foothill soil runs alkaline and locks up iron before maples and lindens can absorb it. Soil correction can often reverse it if caught early.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We carry full general liability and workers' compensation coverage on every crew member, and can email a current Certificate of Insurance before work begins.
